REPAIR
Our Philosophy
When you take your car to be
repaired, you don’t want to commit the care of your second-largest purchase
(after your house) to someone you don’t know and may not trust. Exactly because you are not an experienced
knowledgeable mechanic places you in a vulnerable position. We understand your feelings. Frankly, it is
easy to ‘oversell’ unnecessary repairs and procedures on customers, but that
goes against our professional and personal integrity. So, we will commit to you our NSA (No S---
Analysis). We will give our best diagnosis
and only recommend work we feel is necessary.
We work on all makes and models,
domestic and foreign, of cars and trucks.
We especially like working on luxury performance vehicles like the BMW
(OK, we’re biased but the owner loves Bimmers!)
We work on a limited range of
motorcycles, so please call first.
Our Rates
We bill jobs using the
industry-standard ‘Flag Hour’ rate. For
jobs where this rate is not available, we bill by the worked hour.
Our Flag rate is $70 per hour on
cars and trucks, and $60 per hour on motorcycles.

RESTORATION
Our Philosophy
GearHeads young and old love
machines, young and old. They may own a
contemporary hi-tech performance vehicles, but crave a 60’s or 70’s or 80’s
classic. The ultimate expression of
GearHeadedness is to restore and/or own a classic car. What they lack in sophistication, they make
up for in Character.
While classic cars are often
delightfully impractical and uneconomical, we love them anyway, so here at
GearHead we do restorations, not because we make much money on them, but
because we like to.
How We Got Into Restorations
When we acquired the shop that
became GearHead Tech LLC, we inherited an ongoing restoration of a 1961 Austin Healey
Sprite. Actually, the car came in a pile
of parts and boxes, none labeled. Fortunately, the engine series was the same
as the owner, Lee Williams, used to build in his racing Mini in the 1960’s and
early 70’s. So, as a demonstration of
our commitment, and bloody-mindedness, we did the restoration. The owner, Lisa Melton, is now the happy
driver of this car. << link to web page on Lisa and her car’s
